Airports for space crafts were part of a dreams of fantasy. Well somethings come true and this is one of them. The New Mexico Spaceport Authority recently unveiled designs for the world’s first public launching and landing site for space vehicles, Spaceport America. This is where the Virgin Galactic will take off! Located in the middle of New Mexico desert the spaceport is to include a passenger terminal and a hangar big enough for seven apace crafts. UK architecture firm Foster + Partners and San Francisco-based engineering shop URS have been working on the project and is expected to complete it in 2010 costing a cool $225 million. So pack your bags and get ready for the vacation of a lifetime. Next destination: Mars. I wonder what the prizes are like to travel to space? One of the specs that we all are concerned when looking for a laptop or any gadget is its battery life. Samsung introduced fuel cells (currently in development) that would provide 40 hours of continuous power supply. However the experts at airforce have come up with a new technology that could change the way we look at batteries. Introducing Sony’s new Drive OLED TV. Its 3mm thin and boasts a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. The 11-inch SonyDrive XEL-1 features a 960 x 540 pixel resolution, terrestrial digital tuner, two 1W speakers, HDMI v1.3, USB, and Ethernet jacks in a package measuring 287 x 140 x 253-mm and only weighing 2-kgs. The next big question is “How much?” Its estimated to be around $1,740, that’s about $160 per inch of OLED. Ouch! now that’s quite a bit for a state of the art OLED TV. But that’s the price you pay to own a first generation technology. It’s expected in the Japanese markets early this December. More pics after the jump.

It has set the record for the most revenue earned in 24 hours by an entertainment product, topping figures set by film Spiderman 3 and this is only in the United States, the count in UK hasn’t been included.

Copier that translates Japanese to English!

Then came the pocket translators, which was then considered the best ever. Now we have softwares and apps like Google translate and Babel fish to do the same. Well some of us know how hilarious they can be. Fuji Xerox is out to change all that for good hopefully! The photocopier pictured above from Xerox can scan a printed a sheet of Japanese text from a newspaper or magazine and out comes a translated version of it in Chinese, Korean or Engish, while still retaining the original layout.
Developed by Toyko-based Geltic corporation, the Beta Gel seems to be an amazing invention for absorbing shocks and takes the form of a gel. Currently it is being used in products such as shoe soles and protective lining for portable radio equipment. Well the question here how much can it absorb. Check out the video below! They claim that the Beta Gel can keep an egg intact even when thrown from a height of 22mtrs.
Looking very similar to the Dual Music Player(DMP), featured here, designer Yeon-shin Seung has extended it to play DVDs naming it the PDP( Portable DVD player) and also managed to squeeze an OLED screen. Not just any other OLED screen, Yeon-shin plans on using the Sony full color flexible organic electroluminescent display that is thin & lightweight. Unlike the DMP, the PDP works by twisting the candybar and then inserting a DVD. As for the display, the OLED screen pops out of candybar as seen in the pictures.
