I remember the last time we went “Wow” when Belkin came out with the N1. It had set a trend for routers when it came to design. Here’s another leader in routers who took the same path. It’s none other than Linksys.
Introducing the all new designer Wireless routers from Linksys. The two new models are the Ultra RangePlus Wireless-N Broadband Router (WRT160N) and Ultra RangePlus Wireless-N Gigabit Broadband Router (WRT310N). It works as a wireless access point, which lets you connect to a wireless network. It still retains a 4 port full duplex 10/100 switch, or a gigabit wired ethernet, depending on the model and allows you to share a high speed connection on both your wired and wireless networks.
But the biggest feature of all is the Linkysis Easylink Advisor. Code named LELA, this advanced software now bundled with these routers watches over your network. Check out a sample after the jump Read the rest of this entry »

Would India’s leading telecommunications provider and the country’s largest public-sector firm really do it?
Before you get too excited about the whole thing, please note the capitalized “ I ” which stands for Internet or IP and not the latest Apple gadget that is subject to a lot of information exchange in the recent months. And yes, that was indeed a teaser.
The “I-Phone” under discussing here, would enable the user to call from broadband to broadband with no extra phone charges. So now you wouldn’t need to get onto your favorite messenger, connect your microphone and speaker and dial, but instead call off an IP phone and talk your way to glory without the need to worry of a hefty phone bill. The catch however would be that you actually are exchanging data over your broadband connection which might be subject to a data limit based on the broadband plan you have opted. Its also unclear whether the IP telephony traffic will be exchanged with other broadband providers.
But nevertheless this is a good start, and with the launch of IPTV with video on demand in a few major cities, is an indication of the dawn of the Indian Internet Protocol era.

Belkin brings out another great gadget that I’m so waiting to get my hands on. Well over the years, I’ve accumulated a lot of peripherals and that means more wires and cables to connect them. Hence, I restrict myself to my room, as I don’t get more wires to the other rooms, though I still would like to sit and relax in the living room and still be able to access my hard drives, printers and music in the other room. Imagine I could do all this, with just the wireless connection on my router.

When looking for a wireless router, most of us only look at the specifications, like the number of ports, maximum speed and its wireless range. Well all that’s about to change. Belkin N1 gives us more reasons to reconsider our selection process for a wireless router.
