First there was the dictionaries to translate one language to another. Then came the pocket translators, which was then considered the best ever. Now we have softwares and apps like Google translate and Babel fish to do the same. Well some of us know how hilarious they can be. Fuji Xerox is out to change all that for good hopefully! The photocopier pictured above from Xerox can scan a printed a sheet of Japanese text from a newspaper or magazine and out comes a translated version of it in Chinese, Korean or Engish, while still retaining the original layout.

All this happens with a flick of a switch and it works vice versa too! The copier is hooked up to a dedicated server and with combined algorithms that distinguishes text, drawings and lines is how it maintains the page layouts! Unfortunately it is still in concept stage. Let’s hope it hit’s the production line soon…
