We expected the iPhone to reach UK by Christmas, according to our previous post. Apple has surprised us with its iPhone launch today in London. Apple has announced O2 as their carrier. Unfortunately UK is also getting the same iPhone launched in US with no sign of 3G. Apple claims that the battery life on the iPhone still isnt substantial for 3G. Here are some of the hightlights from today’s conference.
- The iPhone will go on sale in the UK from November 9
- The iPhone will be sold for around GBP 270 ($ 540)
- O2 is to partner with the Cloud to utilize the 7000 WiFi spots in the UK
- Meanwhile O2 has fired up its EDGE network to boost the iPhone customers usage, while the rest of UK is moving towards HSDPA
- O2 has partnered with Carphone Warehouse, one of the largest retailers in the UK to sell the iPhone
