TV phones

Everyone’s upgrading to 3G. Most of the telecom companies are now providing 3G capabilities such as video calls, live streaming, blazing internet speeds and TV on your mobile. Sounds cool, having all these features right on your mobile. But imagine you could project your videos and watch it on the go. The techies at Texas Instruments have built a prototype just to do that.

They’ve built a projector into the phone. The projector contains three lasers, a DLP chip and a power supply and measures about 1.5 inches in length. With the projector, the cell phone can beam DVD-quality video onto a screen or a wall, thereby allowing it to serve as a video player or a television. By using the projector, the actual “screen” size can be much larger than what a person would get by using the LCD panel integrated into the phone. The chip inside the phone, in fact, could drive images for a widescreen television.

Sagem on the other side has been boosting their top of the line mobile SAGEM My750C myMobileTV offering TV playback via next-generation DVB-H broadcasting, providing access to the very best in advanced multimedia entertainment. The face of future mobile entertainment is already here. Expect these babies next year and hoping to see this technology adopted by the others, so we aren’t confined to the mobile screens alone!
