When Apple’s iphone launched in the US, more than half of Apple stores ran out of stock in the first week, according to a report from Bloomberg
People gathered at the stores way ahead of the launch to get their hands on the wonder phone. So far, more than 500,000 iphones have been sold in the US. But when o when is it going to reach the hands of gadget freaks like myself throughout the rest of the world?
According to a BBC report , O2, a mobile service provider in the UK, is set to sign an exclusive contract with Apple and expectations are that the phone will be on sale by December. Retail price is likely to be around £300.
According to local news reports in Bahrain (the sunny, sandy Arabian island where I live), the iphone is scheduled to come within reach of my sweaty paws during the same month. Apple hasn’t confirmed the expected launch date as of yet, according to Apple’s retail manager Ajay Aborol, and neither has there been any decision reached by the local telecom provider. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope the spectacular iphone arrives before we’re bombarded by its lesser rivals.
One last morsel – rumour has it that a 3G model will also be launched, although exactly where and when is still unknown.
Any news on when this fantasy is hitting the Indian Subcontinent?
Hey there, Nice seeing you here. Reports from jimandaz.com say that the phone is expected to arrive to the Indian market by mid 2008.
i thought Singular (aka AT&T) has a 5 year contract with Apple for sole distribution rights of the iPhone in US.
